Mert Berdilek is a Turkish writer/director based in Melbourne, Australia. Mert's journey into the artform of cinema was comprised by witnessing films from filmmakers such as; Kubrick, Tarkovsky, Melville, Bergman, Kurosawa, Kobayashi, Ceylan & more during childhood. Through an introspective adolescence, the appetite to contribute back into the artform that helped form his philosophical disposition became stronger throughout his formative years. Mert's award winning debut short-film Crossfire won Best Short Film & Best Cinematography at the New York Cinematography Awards & Asian Cinematography Awards. Selected as a finalist at the 26th Altin Koza (Golden Boll) Film Festival in Turkey. Also being selected among the Official Selection at the Seoul International Film Festival & the Lebanese Independent Film Festival. Mert's second film The Fall will premiere in the Festival Circuit of 2020.
